Our Story

Church Street United Methodist Church has been in Selma, Alabama, since 1835. We sit on the only piece of land in Selma that has never been bought or sold. The city planned for a Protestant church in the downtown area, and the Methodists got there first.

Over the years the church has grown and now exists as a family of faith that can meet the spiritual needs of your whole family. We are striving to grow in our faith, and we invite you to join us on the journey. Our worship is focused on connecting to God and discerning God’s will for our lives.

Sunday Schedule

  • Breakfast at 8:30 AM

Celebrate the Journey

In 2010 the church marked 175 years with a book, Celebrate the Journey: Our Windows, Kneelers, Furnishings, and Members Reflecting God, One Hundred and Seventy Five Years, 1835 to 2010. Copies are available in the church office. You can call or write to the office to ask about one.
