Our website should work for every member of our community and every visitor.

Our Commitment

Church Street United Methodist Church welcomes everyone, and we want our website to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, voice control, screen magnifiers, or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

What We Have Done

  • Pages use a consistent structure with headings in order, so screen reader users can move through them.
  • A “Skip to content” link appears at the top of every page for keyboard users.
  • The main menu works with a keyboard and on small screens, and the menu button reports whether it is open or closed.
  • Photos have text descriptions, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • The page language is set, and the layout adapts to phones, tablets, and desktop screens.
  • An accessibility toolbar from ADA Web Work is available on every page. It lets visitors adjust text size, spacing, contrast, and other display settings.

Known Limitations

We are still working on a few areas:

  • Bulletins and calendars. Our Sunday bulletins and monthly calendars are PDF files. Not every PDF is fully tagged for screen readers. If you cannot read one, call the church office and we will get you the information another way.
  • Contact form. The form on our contact page is provided by Tally, a third-party service. We do not control every part of it. If you have trouble, please call the church office at (334) 872-1401.
  • Maps, videos, and links to other sites. The map on our Visit page, our worship videos, and our Facebook page are provided by other companies. Their accessibility is outside our control.

Tell Us About a Barrier

If something on this site is hard to use, or you need information in another format, please contact us. Tell us the page address and what happened, and we will work to fix it or get you the information another way.

We aim to reply within two business days.

Formal Complaints
